Interview with an Artist – Gauthier Hubert

On my return from Berlin in 2011 after 6 years of Germanic adventures, I rented a workshop next to Gauthier Hubert’s in Brussels. So we were in daily contact for a few years.

During our pictorial breaks, conversations about painting had a great place. I also discovered a different artist than the one I had known a year before: a turnaround in his work had taken place.

He was taking a totally different direction.

A direction where painting and the pleasure of painting was central.

A long discussion between two painters and two colleagues in a space full of paint but empty of visitors, with an unpleasant wind tunnel in the background and a recorder that I was using for the first time.
